Panshak Henri Zamani popularly known as Ice Prince is a Nigerian singer-songwriter, and a recording artist. He released his hit single Oleku in 2010 which brought him to limelight. Today, Ice Prince is a successful hip-hop artist and one of the most followed Nigerian musicians on Twitter.

Ice Prince Background

Ice Prince was born on Oct. 30, 1986 in Minna, Niger state. At age 2, the family relocated to Jos, Plateau State. He attended St. Murumba College, Jos, then Science Tutorial College, Jos. Ice Prince also attended the University of Jos to study Zoology but dropped out due to financial constraint. He lost his father and mother in 1999 and 2011 respectively.

Ice Prince Early Career

Zamani began his musical career in 1999. He started writing Rap songs and performing at social events in his school. Subsequently, he started recording his songs in the studio and in 2002, he formed the ECOMOG Squad with some of his friends in Jos.

The group performed together for a year before everyone went their separate ways. Later on, he met with Jude and Jesse Abaga popularly known as M. I and Jesse Jagz respectively. They started living together in 2004, and eventually moved to Lagos from Abuja. The trio met Djinee who accommodated them, and in 2008, they were making music and doing shows in Lagos and in the Eastern part of the country. Today, this group including few other musicians formed the Loopy Crew.

Ice Prince released his debut single which he titled Extraordinary in 2004. That same year, he also released Rewind. Rewind got airplays and charted top on several radio stations (inspiration Fm, Vision Fm, Unilag Fm, e.t.c) in Lagos and Abuja.

Ice Prince Personal Life

Ice prince has a son with Bimbo Babatunde named Jamal Zamani. Jamal was born on March 1, 2012.

Everybody Loves Ice Prince

Zamani released his debut studio album titled Everybody Loves Ice Prince on oct. 9, 2011 under the Chocolate City Record Label. He recorded the album in 2010 and it was produced by M. I, Jesse Jagz and few others. It also featured guest appearances from Brymo, 2 Face Idibia and Wizkid. The Album has three singles – Oleku (2010), Superstar (2011) and Juju (2012). The genre of the album is basically hip hop and a fusion of many other genres like R&B, Reggae, Highlife, e.t.c. The inspiration for the album title came from the love and encouragement he received from people during his mother’s death. It won the Best Rap Album in the 2012 Headies.

Oleku

Oleku was the song that brought Ice Prince to stardom. It was released on June 8, 2010 by Ice Prince featuring Brymo. In 2011, the song won series of awards. For example; City People Entertainment awarded it as the Song of the Year, Nigeria Entertainment Awards, as the Hottest Single of the Year and many others. It is one of the most remixed song in the Nigerian history. The song became popular along with Scapegoat, and Ten Over Ten produced by D’banj and Naeto C’s respectively in 2010.

Fire of Zamani

The second studio album of Ice Prince is titled Fire of Zamani. It was released on Oct. 28, 2013 under the Chocolate City label. Some of its producers and executive Producers are M.I, Don Jazzy, Chopstix, Paul Okeugo, and Jay Sleek. It also featured guest appearances from Sunny Neji, Wale, Wizkid, M.I, Jesse Jagz, Sound Sultan, Olamide, Burna Boy e.t.c. Fire of Zamani has four singles, and they are Aboki (2012), More (2012), Gimme Dat (2013) and I swear (2013).

The album incorporates a genre of hip hop, afrobeat, dancehall, reggae and highlife.

Jos To World

After Ice Prince left Chocolate City Record Label, he released his third album titled Jos To The World. The album was released on Oct. 28, 2016 under his record label Super Cool Cats. The song has 19 track listings. The genre of the album is an element of hip hop, R&B, Reggae, Highlife, dancehall and afro beat. The Producers include; Tobi Sanni Daniel, Chopstix, Tone P. and Every Play Counts.

Ice Prince Net Worth

According to Austine Media in July 2018, Zamani’s net worth is estimated at $4.5 million and he is one of the richest and most influential artist and hip hop rapper in Nigeria.

In 2014, he was announced to have signed some endorsement deals with Etisalat. Subsequently, he also signed deals with Jovago.com, and D’USSE Cognac worth millions of Naira. He was also awarded by Fmr. President Goodluck Johnathan along with M.I Abaga as brand ambassadors for Nascom Rhythm and Play.

Ice Prince got featured in two movies in 2013. He acted as Tony and played a supporting role in House of Gold. He also made a cameo appearance in Shuga (season 3). House of Gold is a Ghanaian Nigerian comedy film produced by Yvonne Nelson and directed by Pascal Amanfo. Also, Shuga Naija is a TV drama series that create awareness on HIV, safe sex and teen pregnancy, e.t.c. The season was written by Kemi Adesoye and directed by Biyi Bandele.
