About Lead 2030 Challenge

Lead 2030 is the world’s biggest prize fund for young leaders making an impact on the Sustainable Development Goals. The team finds, funds and accelerate SDG solutions created by founders under 30.

Basically, it is formed by One Young World and powered by some of the world’s leading businesses. Several businesses have powered and supported the achievement of a series of SDG goals in the past.

For instance, the 2019 Challenge for Goal 2 was supported by RB; Goal 3 by AstraZeneca; 4 by Deloitte; 9 by Standard Chartered; 17 by KPMG and many others.

Asahi helps eliminates climate impact as part of its Asahi Carbon Zero campaign. Also, it is working with farmers in countries where it operates to help them adapt and prepare for a changing climate.

Reason For The Lead 2030 Challenge

Beyond responding to climate change, actions to reduce emissions are also urgently required within Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU), where activities account for 23% of humanity’s greenhouse gas emissions. The largest contributors in this sector are methane produced by livestock and enteric fermentation, collectively accounting for 50% of agricultural emissions.

Also, overcoming these challenges requires new technologies and support to build new skills that can improve adaptive capacities and mitigate the effects of a changing climate.

Therefore, the Challenge aims to find and support solutions that will contribute to the future of sustainable agriculture. This way, it will be supporting and enabling farmers to reduce their emissions and/or help adaptation and resilience against the climate challenges of this decade and beyond.
