From our work in the SME space, here are some interesting findings:

–Many SMEs don’t survive up to 5 years and the major reason is the lack of business management skills.

–The most pressing business challenges facing SMEs are financing followed by finding customers and infrastructure.

–The biggest cost for many SMEs is power generation cost followed by rent and cost of capital.

In 2016, we started by solving the problem of power generation through ReDahlia Workspaces. ReDahlia Workspaces provides access to reliable internet and a constant power supply so that entrepreneurs can focus on being productive.

The next challenge we took on was the challenge of democratising business knowledge through Entrepreneurs.ng and ReDahlia Business Academy. We are making business knowledge accessible through our different programs.

As we execute our programs, we improve with the feedback from participants. This led us to launch Start Your Business in 30 Days, a holistic business training for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. This course takes you from idea to launching your business in 30 days.

We are already measuring the impact of the program and ensuring that the businesses enrolled look beyond profit and understand the place of people and the planet.

So, we are ensuring they infuse these three P’s (profit, people, and planet) into their business model.

One challenge we have not been able to cater to is the challenge of funding because, for anything we do as an organisation, sustainability is the keyword.

Once we are able to provide funding for businesses, we want to make sure that we tick every box and that sustainability and impact will be our watchword.

Also, as an organisation, we think long-term. We have always planned ahead and have more than a five-year strategic plan for our organisation.

Every day, we step into what we want to become.

It is in accordance with this strategic plan that we registered the ReDahlia Entrepreneurs Foundation. ReDahlia Entrepreneurs Foundation will serve as a vehicle for our impact work.

I’m proud to announce to you that, graduates of Start Your Business in 30 Days will get the opportunity to access up to N1,000,000 in funding through the ReDahlia Entrepreneurs Foundation’s yearly funding competition which will happen every June.

The competition is exclusive to Start Your Business in 30 Days Program graduates.

Funding has always been a challenge that we want to contribute to solving for Africa, and I’m glad that we are finally doing it.

So, ReDahlia is solving all the three challenges businesses face. We are building for impact.

We are raising entrepreneurs who are running sustainable and successful businesses and helping them get access to the tools and resources they need to scale and spur economic development.
