The King Baudouin Foundation is calling for application for the Business Partnership Facility program. This is a program that seeks to invest in entrepreneurial business initiatives with a strong social impact that is contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.

About Business Partnership Facility

The Business Partnership Facility is initiated and financed by the Belgian Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGD). The aim is to stimulate private sector involvement in achieving the SDGs in developing countries. The initiative provides a non-refundable grant between £50,000 and £200,000 that represents a maximum of 50% of the total investment.

Basically, BPF is looking for viable, entrepreneurial business initiatives with a strong social impact. These are social impact, contributing to SDGs such as;

  1. Creation and maintenance of decent jobs
  2. Improvement in average income for low-income families
  3. Accessibility to affordable goods and services
  4. Inclusion and economic development of women and young people
  5. Positive impact on the environment through saving resources, reducing emissions, and/or preserving biodiversity.

Economic viability:

Partnerships must clearly demonstrate the submitted initiatives are:

  1. Able to become self-sustainable
  2. Scalable
  3. Replicable

Who Can Apply

The application can preferably be partnerships that bring together actors from the private sector, civil society, academia, and/or the public sector. This partnership should consist of a minimum of one business partner.

Then, projects must take place in one of the developing countries with Nigeria inclusive, but partners can be Belgian, European, or international legal entities, under public or private law.

Also, the project must be part of the ‘core business’ of the business partner involved.

Prize

By participating, you can have a financial support of up to £200.000.
