Internship Program for 4000 Unemployed Graduates

As part of efforts to reduce the rate of unemployment in Lagos State, the Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu has approved an Internship Program for 4,000 Unemployed Graduates, with a monthly stipend of N40,000. This development is in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of the present administration and the Youth Development Programme of the State.

According to Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, in the information released via the official Twitter handle of the state; “the Graduate Internship Placement Programme is designed to give candidates the opportunity to develop employability and work-ready skills that are needed in securing gainful employment.”

She added that “the Internship Programme will be addressing the third and fourth pillars of the present administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S agenda; while the beneficiaries will be paid a monthly stipend of N40,000 for the six months duration of the internship”.

Arobieke further stated, “at the end of the internship period, interns would have gained valuable work experience, built up their professional skills and would have been exposed to entrepreneurial opportunities to strengthen their professional skills and interpersonal relationship.”

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Internship Program;

  1. You must possess NYSC Certificates or Letter of Exemption.
  2. You must be a registered resident of the state with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency, LASRRA

How It Works

According to the information, the selection process will be transparent. Firstly, successful candidates will take an online test, receive training on employability skills for two weeks, then be evaluated.

Thereafter, you will be placed on a six months of paid internship with Private organisations/selected Public Agencies. And, this placement will be in line with your qualifications.

With this new development, the Graduate Internship Program will help to reduce the rate of unemployment in Lagos state. Also, it will be an avenue for early-career young professionals to get discovered by potential employers and gain valuable work experience.
