Mercy Aigbe is an award-winning Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and producer, who is best known for acting in Yoruba movies. She is also an entrepreneur, a brand influencer, and founder of Mercy Aigbe Gentry School of Drama. Mercy also owns an asoebi store, skincare store, and a fashion store.

Mercy Aigbe was born on the 1st of January 1978, in Edo State, Nigeria, to Pa Aigbe and Mrs Abisola Grace Owodunni, as the second child of three children. She had her primary education at Saint Francis primary school, and secondary education at Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School Ikeja, Lagos.

After secondary school, she went on to obtain an OND in Financial Studies from the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State. Mercy also has a degree in Theater Arts from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She was once married to Lanre Gentry, and they are blessed with two children and three stepdaughters.

Mercy Aigbe Career

She became known in Nollywood in 2006, with the movie Ara. Before then, she had always wanted to act, but she didn’t know she would take it professionally until her OND days when it became a big deal to her. As a result, in 2001, she went to study Theatre Arts at the University of Lagos, so that she could become a professional actor.

Asides acting, Mercy is also a businesswoman with diverse sources of income. She has a fashion store called Mag Diva Boutique which she launched in November 2014. Mercy also has a skincare line called Flawless by Mercy, and an asoebi store called Asoebi Mercy.

The MAG School of Drama

Mercy Aigbe founded the MAG School of Drama in the year 2016. The school offers a 4-month training in acting, script-writing, movie making, stage management, etc. Students are under the tutelage of well-trained, and experienced instructors who help them build a solid foundation and develop the skills they need to succeed in the highly competitive Nollywood industry.
