Mercy Johnson Okojie is an award-winning, multi-talented Nigerian actress. She is a popular Nollywood actress who is loved by many because she seamlessly fits into any assigned role.

She is an embodiment of humility as well as one of the “most real” in the movie industry. Asides being an actress, she is also involved in several personal businesses. One of her business ventures is her kitchen talk show. Mercy Johnson is the senior special assistant (SSA) to the Kogi state governor on entertainment, arts and culture.

Mercy Johnson Okojie Background.

Mercy Johnson-Okojie is originally from Okene, Kogi State, Nigeria but she was born in Lagos on the 28th of August 1984. She is the fourth of the seven children of Mr Daniel Johnson – a retired naval officer and Mrs Elizabeth Johnson – a former trader. Mercy had a close relationship with her father that she always relocated with him to any location he is transferred to. They both went to Calabar when she was two so she started her nursery school in Calabar.

After a while, her father was transferred back to Lagos, so she attended the Nigerian Navy Primary School, Lagos. He moved again, this time to Port Harcourt, where Mercy had her secondary education. She attended Rivers State Secondary School and Nigerian Navy Secondary School Port Harcourt.

She is married to Prince Odianosen Okojie, and they are blessed with three lovely children.

Mercy Johnson Okojie Movie Career.

Mercy Johnson Okojie started her movie career in 2003. This was when she failed her JAMB exams and decided she was not going to sit at home idle. She then auditioned for a movie role and got the role of a possessed maid in the movie “The Maid”.

Her outstanding performance in “The Maid” marked the beginning of her success story as an actress. Since then, producers have been calling her for lead roles in movies. She has starred in over 200 films, some of which are Dumebi the dirty girl, Corporate maid, Desperate ladies, Heart of a fighter, Mercy the bus driver, 30 days in Atlanta to name a few.

Mercy’s Acting Inspiration.

Her inspiration to act came from Genevieve Nnaji after she watched one of her movies “Sharon Stone”, and decided she wanted to be like her as well.  Another reason she took up acting as a career was for the money, because she is not from a wealthy background, and things were difficult growing up. So she thought to make money through acting to support her family.

She is a very hardworking and passionate person, her passion for acting increased by the day as she continued acting. Right now, she is so in love with what she does, that it has become a part of her.

Mercy’s Lifestyle Inspiration.

Mercy learnt to juggle between being a wife, a mother and a successful actress from Mitchell Obama’s speech on ‘being a wife, a mom and every other positive thing you want to be as a woman’. She puts God first before any other thing, afterwards, her family, then work. So, if her husband doesn’t give her permission to go for a shoot, she will not go.

Mercy’s Menu.

Mercy’s Menu is a kitchen talk show to be launched in July, she announced the launch of this talk show across her social media platforms. Mercy will host the show, while other people will be invited to share their marital experiences, things that spice up their marriage, tricks they use to make their marriage come alive on a daily basis etc.

Mercy Magic.

Mercy Magic is a unique blend of herbal mixtures, that reduces tummy fat and helps to trim down the body generally. Each pack contains slimming tea, flat tummy tea, a meal plan and an exercise routine.

Mercy Johnson Okojie’s Endorsements.

Mercy Johnson Okojie is an ambassador of the detergent and sanitary pads brand, Virony and Mr Chef Iodized Salt.  Both companies made her ambassador for similar reasons: her influence, leadership style, ability to care for her family and still be an ace in her career.

They believe with Mercy as the face of their brands, they will gain more exposure and increased market share as she has the ability to properly emphasize the importance of iodized salt to mothers and the need for a good sanitary pad and detergent.

Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation.

Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation was established to assist and meet the needs of widows and less privileged in the society.

The foundation gave over a thousand women in Uromi, Edo State food supplies, and they have continuously given aide to the Boys Reform Home, Oregun and the Al Iremand home, Lagos.

The foundation donated to the ‘SaveOJBJezreel’ campaign and has supported various charitable causes without media publicity.
